Worship at St. Paul Lutheran Church
When Martin Luther began the Protestant Reformation one of his main points was to make the service more meaningful and more easily grasped by the people in the pews. Sunday morning services follow the traditional liturgy from The Lutheran Book of Worship with the exception of the third Sunday of each month when we use Marty Haugen's Now the Feast and Celebration. In the summer months Sunday services are less formal as we say or sing the liturgy using examples drawn from many sources.
Music plays an important part of worship services at St. Paul. The Senior Choir provides music at the later service eleven months of the year, taking only August off. Both Sunday morning services are generally accompanied by pipe organ except for the “Now the Feast and Celebration” setting which is accompanied by the piano with other instruments as available. Occasionally soloists provide special music for the 8 a.m. service. The congregation has strong ties to the University of New Mexico and the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and regularly employs professional instrumental soloists both for worship, as well as for special events like cantatas, etc.
A nursery is available for children up to age three during Sunday morning services and also for special services.
